Brazil

Brazil MapsThe largest country in South America, Brazil is so blessed with incredible diversity, variety, colour and charm that is has something to offer virtually every kind of family.
Beach lovers of all ages will be spoilt for choice; architecture connoisseurs will marvel at the intact colonial towns; hikers can walk for many scenic miles with barely another soul in sight; and the Pantanal and Amazon make Brazil one of the planet’s mandatory destinations for the adventurous family seeking excellent wildlife.

The sheer abundance of flora and fauna to be found in Brazil’s great wildernesses is beyond comparison with practically any other destination on earth. Coupled with a good infrastructure, high quality family accommodation and a welcoming population, it has become one of our most popular destinations, and deservedly so.

Suitable for families with older children, Wildlife Brazil – A Family Natural History Adventure combines three very different wilderness habitats – the verdant Amazonian rainforest, the vast Pantanal plains and the natural marine beauty of Marau – with one of the best preserved colonial cities in South America; Beautiful Brazil For Families With Younger Children is a gentle itinerary for families who wish to minimise the amount of travel and includes the Pantanal, Rio de Janeiro and the chic Atlantic Resort of Buzios; whilst The Dazzling Diversity Of Family-Friendly Brazil is aimed at families with older children (8 years old or more) and offers an impressive diversity of wildlife and activities.

When to Go

Being so large, Brazil has many climatic zones despite being classified as tropical. In the south it can be really quite cool, while in Amazonia it is hot and humid almost continually.

Brazil Family Holidays

The heaviest rains fall at different times in each region: November to March in the Southeast, December to March in the Centre West, January to April in the North, and April to August on the Northeast coast. The Pantanal is best seen in the dry season, July to October - avoid rainy February. The Amazon’s wettest season is from December to May, the driest month being October.

Suitable for families with older children, this varied itinerary combines three very different wilderness habitats – the verdant Amazonian rainforest, the vast Pantanal plains and the natural marine beauty of Marau – with one of the best preserved colonial cities in South America. There will certainly be many excellent wildlife sightings and a full range of activities to enjoy in the company of local English-speaking guides, as well as plenty of time at the end to relax. Our aim is to produce an itinerary of impressive diversity for families with older children (8 years old or more). We begin at a luxury Pantanal lodge with excellent potential for wildlife sightings. We follow with Bonito and its crystal clear, fish-filled rivers, caves and the wonderful Hole of the Macaws. Then to the world’s most impressive waterfalls, Iguacu, before finally flying south for close encounters with dolphins and right whales. A multitude of exotic experiences which will remain with you and your children for the rest of your lives. Find out more...
