The places we stayed were ideal for [my mother’s] work [as a wildlife artist], and we were very lucky indeed in seeing a great deal of native wildlife including an ocelot with young, jaguarundi, margays, coatimundis, opossums, and of course plenty of bird (and insect) life. [THE JUNGLE LODGE] was quiet, secluded, lush and full of beautiful birds. Vicki and Ray were friendly and welcoming hosts who went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one. Benjamin, our guide on the bird walks was amazing. Very knowledgeable and also a great personality.

[THE LAGOON LODGE] was spectacular for it’s setting and layout, the birds and wild-life, the friendliness of the staff and guides, and some excellent food as well.

We found the transfer flight piloted by Daniel, to be an experience in itself. Daniel is quite a guy - very friendly and knowledgeable and someone who obviously lives life to the full.

Placencia and [THE BEACHFRONT HOTEL] gave us a chance to relax and indulge in a little more luxury. For me the diving here was the highlight of our trip. Although I did not see the Whale sharks on my first days diving, I did see them on two further days, and so achieved my ambition of diving in the company of these beautiful animals. The snorkelling was also very good and it has certainly fired [my wife] and my enthusiasm for further such holidays in the future.

[THE RAINFOREST LODGE] provided a suitable end for our trip. Although our stay coincided with a heat wave (temperatures up to 116F!), it was still a fantastic place to stay. The setting is absolutely beautiful, and the bird life and other wildlife is stunning. The guides here were incredible, able to track birds by making their calls and getting them to answer, and gradually focusing on their position until we could see them. Again the staff were friendly and we were pleased to be able to chat to Nick and his wife - If Nick ever needs an assistant, let me know!
